Harvard Kennedy School is the most eminent public administration research institution in the world. Over the last 75 years, it has trained thousands of elites who are active in the public service sectors. They are government officials, public administration elites and public leaders. There are close and successful cooperation between China and Harvard Kennedy School, which happened in the field of academy, government administration and public management. Currently, limited people in China are familiar with the elite training mode of Harvard Kennedy School, and almost no single book comprehensively introduces this training mode to the Chinese reader. With the strong support of Harvard Kennedy School, Dr. Wang Huiyao, Senior Research Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, and Dr. Zhang Xiaomeng, former visiting fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, have written this book together by fully taking advantage of their precious learning experiences at Harvard Kennedy School.
Also, eight in-depth interviews with Harvard eminent scholars bring the readers with the cutting-edging thoughts in public management, the interviewees are Lawrence Summers, the 27th President and tenured professor of Harvard University, David T. Ellwood, the Dean of Harvard Kennedy School, Joseph S. Nye, Jr., the Emeritus Dean of Harvard Kennedy School and the coiner of “soft power”, Anthony Saich, the Director of the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation and others.XueLan, Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University, and Lu Mai, Secretary-General of China Development Research Foundation, have written prefaces for this book.
