Overseas Talent and Higher Education Conference 2012

On October 6, 2012, Overseas Talent and Higher Education Conference 2012 was held at Harvard Graduate School of Education, organized by The Center for China & Globalization (CCG), a nonprofit and independent think tank, MyCOS Research, an institute of China's premier higher education consulting firm MyCOS Data, and the China Education Symposium. The major subject of this meeting is the key role of higher education and overseas returnees in the growth of Chinese economy, CCG and MyCOS Research shared with participants their latest independent research on China's higher education and overseas returnees.

Jeffrey Williams, Executive Director, Harvard Center Shanghai, presented the keynote speech. Wang Huiyao, director of CCG, gave a report on “Abroad study and Overseas Returnees' Entrepreneurship”, moderated by Dwight Perkins, Harold Hitchings Burbank Professor of Political Economy of Harvard Kennedy School.

During the section of Chinese College Graduates' Employment, Kane Zhang, Vice President of R&D of MyCOS Institute, Dr. Jiao Guo, Chief Research Officer of MyCOS Institute and Kate Wang, Education Consultant of MyCOS ,introduced data collection method and mining technologies adopted in their survey, this process was held by Julian Chang, Executive Director of Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia in Harvard Kennedy School.
 

In the process of Round Table Disscussion, Jeffrey Williams, Julian Chang , Wang Huiyao, Kane Zhang, Zha Jianzhong, University-Industry Cooperation’ Chair holder of UNESCO, Jiao Guo, and Kate Wang communicated with attendees about high education in china, lots of questions were raised by enthusiastic participants, answers segment was proceeded in a friendly and lively atmosphere.

About 100 students and experts attended this conference from universities around Boston, such as, Harvard University, MIT, Wellesley College, Tufts University, Boston University and Northeastern University. Some of them were from universities of New York, Philadelphia. They wish this conference could be held annually to promote the communication on the up-dating research on Chinese higher education and overseas returnees.
